Dark Under-Eye Circles
Correct diagnosis is important in order to distinguish between two possible reasons for the appearance of under-eye dark circles: a genetically related pigmentary disorder or the accumulation of minor blood vessels close to the skin surface.
In the case of the latter, the skin will instantly lighten when fingertip pressure is applied.
Pigment-associated darkness is best covered up with an effective under-eye concealer, whereas multiple capillaries under a thin epidermal barrier can benefit from certain treatment options. These include thickening of the epidermal barrier layer using gradual AHA exfoliation to accelerate renewal and result in less transparent skin and the use of mild astringents with cooling under-eye masks.
